Key Stage 4 Curriculum
The Key Stage Four curriculum has been designed to give every pupil the opportunity to achieve their full potential and to maximise the choices available at the Sixth Form.
In Key Stage 4 all students follow the core subjects of GCSE English, Mathematics, and Science. In addition all pupils participate in core PE and Global Education where there are no exams. We are currently seeing out a legacy in which our Year 11 sit a series of one year qualifications that are determined by individual need and prior assessment data. Which the change in entry policy Year 10 have returned to the traditional 2 year GCSE courses.
In Year 10, all students study English, Maths, Science, Global education, PE. Students are placed into 3 pathways:
EBacc – Students study German/Spanish, Geography/History, an expressive based subjects and an open subject.
Pathway A – Students study Geography/history, an expressive based subjects and 2 open subjects.
Pathway B – Students study an expressive based subjects and an open subject, in additional they also have additional English and Maths lessons.
In Year 11, Students, who are placed into Pathway 1, need to ensure that during their Key Stage Four curriculum that they study at least 2 of the following subjects; History, Geography, Computer Science, Triple Science or a Language.
