Overview of KS3 Maths

Students will begin to cover the content in preparation for their GCSE exam at the end of KS4. Students will be assessed on a half termly basis through a combination of levelled and tiered tests.

Exam Board: Edexcel – Higher, WJEC - Foundation

 

Two equally weighted written exam papers, both taken at the end of year 11.

 

Higher:

Paper 1 – Non Calculator – 1hr 45 min written exam worth 50% of the GCSE

 

Paper 2 – Calculator – 1hr 45 min written exam worth 50% of the GCSE

 

Foundation:

Paper 1 – Non Calculator – 1hr 45 min written exam worth 50% of the GCSE

 

Paper 2 – Calculator – 1hr 45 min written exam worth 50% of the GCSE

Maths A level

Exam Board: Edexcel

 

There are 6 modules of the A level Maths course:

 

Module 1 – Core 1 – 1 hr 30 minute written exam, worth 33.3% of A level, 16.6% of AS level.

 

Module 2 – Core 2 – 1 hr 30 minute written exam, worth 33.3% of A level, 16.6% of AS level.

 

Module 3 – Decision 1 (applied) – 1 hr 30 minute written exam, worth 33.3% of A level, 16.6% of AS level.

 

Module 4 – Core 3– 1 hr 30 minute written exam, worth 33.3% of A level.

 

Module 5 – Core 4 – 1 hr 30 minute written exam, worth 33.3% of A level.

 

Module 6 – Mechanics 1 (applied) – 1 hr 30 minute written exam, worth 33.3% of A level.

 

Further Maths A level

Exam Board: Edexcel

 

There are 6 modules of the Further Maths course:

 

Module 1 – Statistics 1 (applied) – 1 hr 30 minute written exam, worth 33.3% of A level, 16.6% of AS level.

 

Module 2 – Statistics 2 (applied) – 1 hr 30 minute written exam, worth 33.3% of A level, 16.6% of AS level.

 

Module 3 – Further Pure 1– 1 hr 30 minute written exam, worth 33.3% of A level, 16.6% of AS level.

 

Module 4 – Mechanics 2(applied) – 1 hr 30 minute written exam, worth 33.3% of A level.

 

Module 5 – Further Pure 2– 1 hr 30 minute written exam, worth 33.3% of A level.

 

Module 6 – Further Pure 3 – 1 hr 30 minute written exam, worth 33.3% of A level.

 

Modules in the further mathematics course are interchangeable based on the needs and requirements of the students.

 

Core Maths

Exam Board: AQA

 

There are two equally waited exam papers:

 

Paper 1: (Analysis of data, personal finance and estimation) - 1hr 30 min written exam worth 50% of qualification.

 

Paper 2: (Critical path and risk analysis) – 1hr 30 min written exam worth 50% of qualification.
