Year 7 - Meet the Tutor

Full CalendarSecondary Events

This event will take place between 5:00pm and 7:45pm on 26/09/2019

The new academic year is in full swing and we are delighted with the start our Year 7 students have shown since transferring from primary to our secondary school. We are working hard to help the students to become familiar with their new surroundings and understand how the school functions.

One of the most significant events to support students is the ‘Meet the Tutor Event’ for students and parents. At The Duston School your child’s tutor is the most important contact for both parent and child. The role of the tutor is the equivalent to the Year 6 teacher at primary school. Your child will meet their tutor at the start of each day to ensure they are prepared for the day ahead and then review the day at 3.00pm. The tutor oversees the general welfare and progress of each tutee, making them a crucial point of contact for you in supporting your child over the next five years.

We are inviting all parents to meet your child’s tutor on Thursday 26th September. The event will include guidance on ‘how to support your child at secondary school’ followed by a presentation from your child’s tutor which will give you an array of information that is imperative for all Year 7 parents.

Due to the importance of attending this event we have made two slots available for parents to attend. The timings of these are listed below.

  • Presentation 1 - 5.00pm to 6.30pm
  • Presentation 2 - 6.15pm to 7.45pm

To book onto a presentation slot please use the link provided below, we ask that no more than three people attend from each family (including the student) to avoid overcrowding.

The evening will also allow you as a parent to offer feedback regarding the overall transition journey that you and your child have been part of.
