Values
The Duston School Primary Phase
Vision and Values
Our Primary Phase Mantra is ‘Be Your Best’ and our key values that will underpin all we do are ‘Care, Challenge and Succeed.’ Our Mantra and Values are referred to in all aspects of school life and have become a shared language for our children and staff. We start each week with a Values led assembly in which we discuss a specific value, see how this links to British Values and enjoy a story to support the children’s understanding.
Mantra - Be Your Best
At The Duston School, we believe that every child and adult can be the best version of themselves so that everyone reaches their full potential. We recognise that we are all unique, with our own individual talents and personalities and we want to encourage all our children to aspire to great things.
We fundamentally believe that developing a sense of self-worth is of paramount importance. We want our children to recognise their own best; to be proud of their personal achievements, to value and respect themselves and to know that they are cared for.
Values
Our core values are: Care - Challenge - Succeed
Care
Care underpins all that we do:
-
We care about others
-
We care about ourselves
-
We care about our school
-
We care about the community
-
We care about the wider world
Challenge
We challenge ourselves to be our best:
-
We don’t give up
-
Only our best is good enough
-
We challenge ourselves to improve
-
We always want to learn more
Succeed
We achieve well in the basics of speaking and listening, spelling, reading, writing and Maths and in personal successes. Underpinning this:
-
We celebrate our achievements and those of others
