Relationships and Sex Education (RSE)

As part of our commitment to providing a broad and balanced curriculum, we teach a full Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE) curriculum through our Jigsaw programme. Please see the PSHE curriculum for further information.  

Aspects of PSHE are also taught through our curriculum, in the books that we read and in assemblies. 

We teach Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) through the Jigsaw curriculum in accordance with national guidance.

RSE is an important part of our pupils’ personal development and helps children to:

• Build healthy, respectful relationships
• Understand boundaries and consent (in an age‑appropriate way)
• Develop confidence and self-esteem

• Stay safe, both offline and online

Primary schools in England need to teach Relationships and Health Education as compulsory subjects and the Department for Education strongly recommends this should also include age-appropriate Sex Education.

We are able to share further information on how RSE is taught via a code from Jigsaw.  If requested, your child's teacher will be able to send you a custom code.

All aspects of RSE are taught in an age-appropriate and sensitive way which suits the needs of our children.

Right to withdraw

Parents have the right to withdraw their child from the sex education elements of the RSE curriculum. If you wish to discuss this, please contact your child's class teacher.
