Humanutopia

humanutopia are a social enterprise company formed in 2004 to empower young people to make positive changes. They run a programme called the heroes journey which aims to develop five key development areas:

1. Hope

2. Confidence

3. Happiness

4. Relationships

5. Employability

The Duston School have been working with humanutopia for the last three years and formed a very successful relationship. They have worked with every secondary year group on their flagship Who Am I course which provides opportunities for students to consider the barriers that hold them back, their aspirations and choices and changes they need to make.

Fifteen Y10 students volunteered to be "heroes" - positive role models for younger students. This improves their own life skills while helping support younger students to support their own. They support sessions with humanutopia, peer mentoring, work with the primary phase of the school and have also attended a national conference in Birmingham and delivered a session to local headteachers.

Please see a short video below showing how Humanutopia can help towards positive changes in young people's lives.
