Subjects / Course guide
At the The Duston School we are committed to providing you with a curriculum that meets your individual needs, help you to develop as a young adult and prepares you for further or higher education and employment. Tailoring personal learning pathways is the key to our course programmes so that a variety of combinations can be taken, some as one year or others as two year programmes of study.
Year 12 students are required to research and organise a work experience placement related to their chosen career path. This is a compulsory element of Sixth Form study and students should ensure their chosen placement is relevant and useful for future university/job applications. Students will be supported in their search by our Academic Coach who will ensure that all prospective placements are insured and are of a suitable nature.
Work experience provides an invaluable opportunity to build confidence and communication skills, in addition to the chance to explore different career paths. This experience will also form an essential part of an employment or UCAS application, and will help to set students apart from other candidates.
