The film and its purpose

With the support of Kayleigh’s family, Leicestershire Police made a film showing parts of the last 14 days of her life.

Kayleigh’s Love Story is a warning to young people, both girls and boys, about online grooming and the dangers of speaking to strangers or ‘friends’ you only know online.

The film highlights how quick and easy it can be for children to be groomed online without them even knowing it is happening. Its purpose is to protect children and stop another family losing a child in this way.

Safeguarding video 3 - Safer Internet Day

We strongly encourage all parents with TDS children to monitor internet use at home and to educate them as much as possible around the dangers of the online world.

The UK Safer Internet Centre has recently released an exclusive collection of short films tailored for Safer Internet Day 2024, designed to captivate and educate children and young people aged 3 to 18 years old.  The films delve into crucial aspects of the ever-evolving digital realm, shedding light on topics like artificial intelligence and the changes witnessed by the younger generation in the online sphere.  Please utilise this area to help support the work we do when educating children around internet usage.

Safeguarding video 5 – Child on Child Abuse

Child on child abuse is a sensitive issue that demands attention. Children often hesitate to speak out due to fear or shame. It is crucial that they feel safe to disclose any incidents. Even if they don’t verbalise their experiences, there may be signs of distress. Recognising these indicators is essential. We urge all parents to be informed about child abuse, as early intervention can prevent further harm. Please do spend time watching the clip that can be found below.
